The Huddle

Sockeye 6 — Johnny Bravo 7

Footage courtesy of

The Huddle: In contrast to the earlier zone point, Bravo is moving the disc better--faster and getting up field. Was this a talked about adjustment on the sideline?

Mike Whitaker: Bravo actually uses a very similar zone strategy here with throwers holding the disc for a long time and looking for gaps in the cup as opposed to big swings. The difference here is that the offense found a few more gaps and connected a couple of throws after the first pass through the cup to gain yardage whereas on the first zone point, the breaks through the cup were not continued.

Andrew Fleming: Bravo shows the same patience as on the earlier zone point, but this steers clear of the downwind sideline and bounces the disc quickly back toward the middle when it drifts too close. This is a key point for the O to convert. A turn could have given Sockeye the chance to break downwind for the lead. Instead, they go into halftime needing three clear breaks in the second half.
