2008 Labor Day Championships
Ambush
from Peri Kurshan:
Editor's Note: Ambush had very low numbers for this year's Labor Day tournament, and used some pickups to fill in for tired legs throughout the weekend.
Having made their first foray at Nationals in many years last season, Ambush is looking to build on that experience by coming out west. They've picked up a few new players this season, including the duo of handler Lisa Vampola and receiver Pooja Shah who played together at UCLA and led that team to the finals of college nationals in 2006. Lisa has a mean forehand huck (and around breakmark), and Pooja is almost always the recipient, which makes for a potent combination. Julie Sussman made a number of excellent D plays for them. Ambush plays mostly vertical stack offense. If they find their way to nationals again this year, look for Ambush to surprise some teams.
