2008 Labor Day Championships
Safari
from Peri Kurshan:
Safari looked strong this weekend in spite of losing handler Shelly Peyton to Brute Squad and receiver Manisha "Slap" Daryani to Fury this year. Shar Stuht still runs the show, getting every other pass until a receiver gives her a long target for a backhand huck or a pin-point hammer, pick your poison. Since Shar is the lynchpin of their offense, if you can prevent her from touching the disc as often (not a particularly easy task), you can shut down a lot of the flow of their offense. They run a mostly vertical offense, and seem to call their plays off the pull.
On defense, Safari often plays a loose force backhand clam, with a lot of roaming up front. They are otherwise a bit poachy on D, which can be very effective if you aren't ready or looking for it.
