Zeitgeist

from Gwen Ambler:

Zeitgeist has a number of dangerous offensive threats that pose match-up problems for most teams. Kath Ratcliff and Jamie Nuwer are exceptional throwers who use their break-mark throws and hucks with poise and precision. Anna "Maddog" Nazarov is a cross-over player whose speed is tough to contain and whose aggressive throws find receivers in the endzone once she gets the disc underneath. Four of those receivers are 5'10" or taller and all of the downfield cutters are in fantastic shape—allowing its offense to move the disc with big yardage gaining cuts.

Junk, clams, and zone defenses can minimize some of these strengths and slow the offense down a bit. ZG has a very good zone D of its own that puts a lot of pressure on a team's handlers by challenging swing passes and trying to break-up crashing dishes. With three bids out of the Northwest, ZG doesn't have to beat either Riot or Fury at Regionals, but it definitely could. The team's improvement over the course of this season suggests it will be peaking at exactly the right moments this fall.
