The Huddle's Picks: Gwen Ambler and Henry Thorne

In a dense field of extremely qualified candidates, we will be voting for Ms. Ambler and Mr. Thorne.

Ms. Ambler's contributions to women's opportunities and publicity are well-known, and the sheer breadth and dependability of her volunteer contributions to the sport give her a unique and widespread perspective. Having lost a close Board race several years ago, Gwen is overdue. Simply put: when the next big Board decision goes down, we want Gwen in the room with a vote and a voice.

Mr. Thorne, as an incumbent member of the Board of Directors, is likely an unknown to most of our readers. His quiet, steady leadership on the Board has been a driving force for positive change. Current Board members say that if the Board had to pick an MVP, it would be Mr. Thorne. His experience will help the Board avoid previous mistakes, and his foundation in the Strategic Planning initiatives is, we feel, our best bet at achieving the best of those initiatives. Henry truly lives this sport, and while we are grateful for his past contributions, we would like to demand more of his open-minded big-picture thinking on this Board.
